Sharing program “Small and Great” in 2019

The program was held at Dinh Quan Pagoda, Hanoi from 22 to 23 January 2019, with the participation of 28 community members from: Son La (resettlement problem, rubber plantation problem); Ninh Thuan (land problem); Quang Ninh (land problem); Soc Trang and Can Tho (thermal power problem); Binh Thuan; Thua Thien Hue; and guests from: Research and Training Center for Community Development (RTCCD); Culture Identity and Resources Use Management Center (CIRUM); Center for Water Resources Conservation and Development (WARECOD); HealthBridge Canada Organization; Mekong Youth Network.

After receiving the reply of Son La rubber joint stock company, the representatives of 67 households of Cu Pe village, Un village, Muong Bon Commune, Mai Son District hold a meeting to consider and show the contents in reply documentation which are not in accordance with the fact.

Sad Stories from People Suffered from Illegally Burying Pesticides

On 15th December 2016, the Law and Policy of Sustainable Development Research Centre (LPSD) held its monthly community meeting. The participants of the meeting were members of the Thanh Hoa Community who have been affected by Nicotex Thanh Thai JSC.’s activity of illegally burying pesticides. Besides the familiar faces, the new participants of the meeting included people from Muong ethnic minority in Yen Lam Commune, Yen Dinh District, Thanh Hoa province. They all shared stories of their pains from losing family members and relatives due to the effects of buried pesticides.  

New factors affecting the environment and people’s health in Hai Phong community

Until now, people in the Tam Hung Commune, Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong City are still living in a polluted environment due to the operation of the Hai Phong Thermal Power Plant. It is also the major cause of adverse effects on the health of people in surrounding areas.

LPSD and Environmental Pollution Issue

Vietnam’s is undergoing rapid industrialisation. As a result, the state of the environment is worsening and people, especially those who live near industrial facilities, suffer. People’s health, livelihood and assets are dramatically affected, and the authorities and the project owners have to tackle these issues urgently.
